After configuring your BigPond webmail account in Outlook 2019, all emails can be handled more comfortably, and you will take advantage of the functions of Outlook. To change the configuration of your BigPond email, open Outlook and click on the word ‘File’. Click ‘Add Account’ to begin the process. Type in your BigPond email address when requested and click on ‘Connect’.
Outlook will make an attempt to set up recommended servers automatically. If this step doesn’t work out, you will have to fill in the settings manually:
Select “IMAP” as the account type.
In the incoming mail server, type “imap.telstra.com” and the port should be 993 under SSL.
In the outgoing mail server, type “smtp.telstra.com” and the port should be 465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS).
When asked, put in your BigPond email password and select next. Outlook may ask users to verify logins through codes sent to users’ BigPond emails or associated phone numbers. Complete the process by following the other procedures available on the screen. After this, send a test message to ensure that everything works as it should. Additionally, this configuration will also sync your calendars and contacts if applicable and available.
