Hindi has been spoken and used widely over the entire country. It is an official language of India. The culture, the history, the architectural heritage of the country has since ages inspired writers all over the country and the world to write some great poems, stories and plays. 1. Kamleshwar (1932-2007)
His stories have inspired many. His writing is considered to be an amazing part of Hindi literature. He has also written scripts for Hindi movies and television. Some of his famous work includes scripts of movies such as Rang Birangi, Mausam, Aandhi and Chhoti Si Baat. His well-known book ‘Kitne Pakistan’ earned him a Sahitya Akademi Award(2003) and also a Padma Bhushan in 2005. He is considered to be in the forefront in launching of Hindi literature’s ‘Nayi Kahani’ movement in the 1950s.

2. Munshi Premchand(1180 to 1936)
Regarded as one of the most influential writers of the 20th century Munshi Premchand is well-known for his Hindi-Urdu literature. Several writers refer to him as ‘Upanyas Samrat’(Emperor among novelist). He used to write great novels, stories and drama. He has also translated several foreign language literature works into Hindi.

3. Bhisham Sahni (1915-2003)
He is the man behind ‘Tamas’ a novel that portrays a true story of partition of India – Pakistan. It is both powerful and a passionate novel. He wrote stories, novels as well as scripts. He also actively participated in the profession of ‘acting’. In 1998 Sahni was awarded Padma Bhushan and in 2002 he was awarded Sahitya Akademi Fellowship.
